There’s a pair of smelly shoes in the studio! Someone please remove them before they are animated walking away by themselves!

Stein Tuntland shows us how to HOLD THE CAMERA!   Many students storytelling cut or transition to quickly which affects the pace of the story, commonly faulting to jump cuts, breaking continuity.

Here, in a test shot for a his animation film project, Stein confidently holds the camera!

It’s Friday!  You can’t stare at your animation film production ALL the time!  You have to have some fun playing with all those assets you have made for your project!

Jonas Becsan has made our day when he quickly set-up this fun shot during his production “down-time”.  Hilarious to see the last few cars dropping too ;)

This would make a great commercial for a company selling/renting cars “Wanna new car?  Well, WE HAVE LOADS!”

Others suggest adding sound/music, lens flare (never!), DOF, even 600 fps “bullet time” with a dolly-in camera….but for a Friday, I say this is perfect.

Anyway, enjoy this purely unashamed and delightful car(eye) candy and let your imagination go into 5th gear this weekend.

- ouch! that joke hurt ;)

Working on an animation film idea you develop a great deal of general knowledge!
In this example (pictured) our 3D FILM student Tommy Møller is doing a damn fine job working out the details to his new visualization idea, and by production default, now knows ALL the names of African countries!…and in alphabetical order too ;)

Jonas beginning to form the pathway of destruction created by this insect in his new short film Lady Bug .  Everything is to scale, including the soon to be up-turned cars, trucks and even an ice-cream stand!
As a sign of spring the ladybird (Coccinellidae)… they will lay hundreds of eggs, and when these hatch the larvae will commence feeding immediately!

Dissatisfied with the standard Bouncing Ball instruction for beginner animators, I have started to use this Door activity to help learners overcome the panic of drawing ability (if you can draw a square you can draw a door), learn principes of animation, and personlise the work with own sound design(s), door frames, anticipation that explores further  narratives and allows more pedagogical differentiation than that of the Bouncing Ball acitivity.
